Reclaiming my life

As I sit down once again to write a new story for this site, I wonder how many attempts have gone by without one making it online (but if I’d had to guess I’d say 7). If there is a lesson to be learned in this it is that one must finish the story without interruption. The whole process of finishing something I have started is precisely that what seems to be most difficult to me these days. Fingers crossed that I will finally finish an entry so I can upload it.

Main reason for me failing to complete any entry is because I don’t like the stories. A promise was made last time to come back with an exciting story and that is exactly what I can’t deliver. Life has become rather mundane again. This morning I came to the sad realisation that in fact I have now reached the point where life feels the way it does back home when I’m not travelling. I’m stuck and am just passing time, I’ve stopped taking an interest in things and can’t be bothered to start anything new. Time for change of pace I’d say.

With work simmering down I am reclaiming my life. I’ve stopped teaching in the evenings and am now only required to teach two hours in the morning at school. The students are gone for their summer break, but since we are still under contract they (our employers) came up with the brilliant idea of us teaching the other teachers. Now, it is indeed stated in my contract that such a thing may be required of us but only a few hours per term, but teaching them until our contracts end seems ridiculous at best. Jeopardising our bonuses on the other hand would be foolish too and let’s face it, teaching is better than having to come in to the office to sign in and then leaving straight away to repeat the process the next day.

All this time that is now available to me, is a bit of a novelty. It took some time to get readjusted to it but I’m getting the hang of it now. Timing is a bit unfortunate since Bangkok temperatures are rising far above comfortable levels again, so those free afternoons are a bit of a waste. I spend my daytime hours watching movies, working out and enjoying the AC in my local coffee shop. In the evenings I have ventured out to the city centre again to reconnect with drinking on school nights and compensating for working out more. This routine is one I am all to familiar with end usually ends in me traveling again. As of yet I haven’t got any fixed plans but everything points in the same direction for me though, it’s time see some new places again and leave working to people better suited for it. It’ll take some time still but I feel like I need to travel again.
